Niger was thrown into chaos. The coup engulfed the country in an infuriating and terrifying situation---and it wasn't the first upsetting development. And before the coup was over, Tuareg rock band Mdou Moctar finished their new opus: "Funeral For Justice." Sing out loud, dance and stomp on the ground, and join the fight for liberation with Mdou Moctar this 2024 at the Waiting Room Lounge on October 16th with opening act Rosali!

No holds barred. No notes toned down. The quartet's latest and tour's featured album, "Funeral For Justice", which came a few years after the breakout "Afrique Victime", is Louder. Faster. Wilder. The lyrics are passionately political. The guitar solos are feedback-scorched. It's a huge leap from their beginnings as a humble DIY punk show at high-energy traditional weddings.

Now, their reputation magnetized people all over the world in a ferocious place for dancing, if not full-force moshing. And while "Funeral For Justice" album speaks of Niger's oppressors head on, the energetic sound is miles away from a defeated sound. The nostalgic love letter to Moctar's homeland, "Tchinta" has riffs snaking in and out and snares battering relentlessly. The protest songs in the likes of "Oh France", "Imouhar", and the titular "Funeral For Justice" unveils themselves in shout-along slogans and rumblings rhythms and guitar heroism.
